A housemate of Gillian's during her time as an undergraduate at UCSC, he's widely credited with inspiring her love affair with bluegrass music. She would often hang out when Harmony Grits played at Sluggo's Pizza at Porter College on the UCSC campus and sometimes sat in on rhythm guitar when they rehearsed at the house. I've been blessed to see him sit in with them at The Kuumbwa Jazz Center, The Rio Theatre, The Catalyst and The Fillmore on a number of occasions through the years.
