Just got this gem of a CD in the mail. Abigail performing Winter's Come and Gone (in Chinese!) off her 2004 EP titled Song of the Traveling Daughter.
Gillian & David play a few songs during the Midnight Jam at Merlefest, from 04/27/1996. Tim O'Brien is the MC of the evening and sits in on mandolin. Then, Mollie O'Brien also joins them for Orphan Girl. And no...Gillian does not play drums :(
Just found this cool version of 'Scarlet Town' played live by Brad Mehldau on April 25, 2013 at Miner Auditorium, in San Francisco, CA - it's an audience recording. And now I've also found a recording of him playing 'Dark Turn Of Mind' three days later (April 28th) at the same venue. Bass Solo.
Pretty excited to hear a decent jazz cover of one of my all-time favorite songs. Courtesy of the Anders Christensen Trio circa 2009. If I made a Christmas mix, this would be on it.
1st is the maybe one of the weirdest covers of a Gillian song I've ever heard. It's by Scala & Kolacny Brothers. Then, two covers released last year of songs from The Harrow & The Harvest. 1st one by the band Lost in Suburbia, and the 2nd by Chris Thile.
An odd selection of songs that are about Gillian in some way. If you know of any others, let me know, and I'll add them to the playlist. The forth one is some weird Swedish(?) pop song that is about Gillian I suppose. 5th song is an instrumental piece called "Gillian Welch." I have no idea why...
Music from: 9/25/1996, 6/16/2005, 6/18/2005, 2/18/2006, 10/6/2006
Recordings of Gillian & David playing songs written by The Grateful Dead (Jack-A-Roe might as well of been written by tGD). Candyman is a sit-in with Robyn Hitchcock, and Dire Wolf, Brokedown Palace, and Casey Jones are from sit-ins with Bob Weir & The Waybacks.
Here's an MP3 of the Gillian written song from Season 1, Episode 4 of the TV show Nashville. I ripped this myself, from a very nice copy of the episode I aquired online. This is not ripped from some crappy youtube video. Brace yourselves...it's not pretty.
