  MikeB Looks like I'm too long winded - I can't see the rest of my post.  I went on to say that I signed up for this site to find out what other music is out there you all enjoy that is (or maybe is not) similar to Gillian and David's.  Any suggestions are appreciated.

  MikeB Thanks for putting this site together MattWales.  I listen to a fairly wide range of music but there really is something special about these songs.  When I first heard Gill sing "Elvis Presley Blues" I knew I had heard the song once or twice before...  moreThanks for putting this site together MattWales.  I listen to a fairly wide range of music but there really is something special about these songs.  When I first heard Gill sing "Elvis Presley Blues" I knew I had heard the song once or twice before many years earlier sung by Joan Baez.  This really confused me because I associate Joan Baez with an earlier era and assumed "Elvis Presley Blues" to be an older song than it is.  But the moment of recognition upon hearing it again was like befriending an old but fascinating acquaintance.
   
  Gill's songs have a way of getting under my skin and living there.  There is realism in her music that shocks me at times, to be sure, but it also soothes me by saying it like it is.  They resurface in my head for days after hearing them.  Sure, hers are not the only songs with such staying power.  Dylan, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Nanci Griffith and others do it to me too, which puts her in pretty good company. 
   
  One of the reasons I signed up was to see who else feels this way about Gillian's songs.  Like most of us the wait for more music is a constant ache, so I am hoping some of you will help me out by pointing me toward other artists you enjoy as much.  I'm already familiar with Old Crow Medicine Show, who I like, but they are a little raucous for my taste.  Other current artitsts I like are Neko Case, Jakob Dylan (solo albums), Lucinda Williams and Norah Jones.
